'Woyome scandal hasn't destroyed my political career 84976607
Former Attorney General Betty Mould Iddrisu has dismissed assertions that the Woyome scandal has destroyed her political career.

According to her, although she does not worry much about the matter, she would not want to be remembered with it.

“I don’t know how that has destroyed my political career because I won massively at the NDC congress as 2nd vice chair and I was democratically elected.

“The matter is in court and I would not want to go into it but I wouldn't want to go into my grave with it.

“I do know Alfred Woyome and I know the matter is in court but I would not want to go into my grave and be judged with it,” the former Education minister told Bola Ray on Starr Chat Wednesday.

Woyome is standing trial for allegedly defrauding the state of GH¢51.2 million.

The controversial payment was made under the tenure of Mrs Mould Iddrisu as Attorney General.

Woyome was arrested on February 3, 2012 after the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), which had been commissioned by President John Evans Atta Mills to investigate the payment to him, had implicated him for wrongdoing. He was first arraigned on February 6, 2012, together with three others.

The High court will Thursday March 12, 2015, give a final verdict on the case.
