Legendary highlife musician, 'Abrantie' Amakye Dede has said that he has never said anywhere that he is a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) neither does he belong to any political party.

According to him, what he always says is God has given him the talent to sing, and it is through that that he gets his daily bread as such any political party who contracts him to sing for them will be given audience, so far as he is being paid for work done.

“I was hired by an NPP MP who paid me and at the same time hired my singing band to join their party open their new office at Agogo in the Asante Akim North constituency of which I exactly did as per the payment given me,” he explained.

"I will never involve myself in politics ever . . .When I had an accident recently even President Mahama visited and paid for my hospital bills . . ." he added.

Amakye Dede have for some weeks now been tagged as part of musicians campaigning on the ticket of the NPP and its flagbearer for his performance on one of the party’s campaign trips at Agogo in the Ashanti Region.

He emphatically stated he has never said anywhere that he belongs to any political party, because as a Ghanaian musician he is ready to work with all citizens and also every political party Ghanaians elect to lead this country and who ever is ready to pay for his services.

“It is not the NPP or NDC who have made me who I am today,” he stated in an interview with Peace FM 6pm News bulletin .
