C'mssion tasks Afriyie-Ankrah to provide cost per head on supporters 62899115.295The Presidential Commission of Inquiry investigating the participation of the Black Stars at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil has charged Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, former Minister of Youth and Sports to furnish it with the cost of sponsorship per fan to the competition.

Justice Senyo Dzamefe, Chairman of the Commission, asked the minister to present to the commission details of the cost involved in sponsoring each fan to the competition, as well as the cost involved in paying for the services of artists.

“We want to know how much it cost to sponsor one fan to the competition, how much each artist was paid to perform in Brazil as well as other ambassadors during the trip”. He stated.

In addition, the minister was to provide information on the supporters who traveled to Brazil in order to track those who absconded after the competition.

Though the minister has been discharged after four days of grilling, he was expected to provide certain information to the Commission in camera.

Afriyie-Ankrah, however disclosed that over 100 Ghanaian supporters sponsored to Brazil could be part of the over 200 Ghanaians seeking asylum in the Southern American country.

“My lord we noticed that after the first match, over 100 supporters have left the camp.

“So am sure that the over 200 people seeking asylum in Brazil, some of them were from our camp, but there was nothing we could do about the situation,” he stated.

According to the minister, he was surprised some supporters absconded because his checks show that, they were people with adequate travel experience.

He however noted that, he was compelled to put in place regular roll calls at the camp, as well as tighten security to manage the situation.
