Only poor people are complaining about ‘dumsor’ – NDC MP 5286892835516_4443347898260

The National Democratic Congress NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for Lower Manya Krobo, Ebenezer Teye Larbi, says he is surprised by the extent to which some Ghanaians are exaggerating the effects of the energy crisis.

He said it was strange that the poor who cannot afford basic household electrical gadgets are the ones who are complaining about the power crisis.

The effects of Dumsor are “exaggerated by people who cannot afford to buy fridges or air conditions in their homes,” he said.

The NDC Legislator who was reacting to cries on the government to end the crisis on Asempa FM’s Ekosii FM programme further called on Ghanaians to rather invest their “energies into thinking” outside the box than lamenting over the impact of the power crisis.

New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Director of communications, Nana Akomea who was on the show blamed the Mahama-led administration for worsening the plight of Ghanaians by failing to address the power crisis.

But in a quick rebuttal, Mr. Teye Larbi said the NPP is rather creating a mountain out of a molehill for political expediency.

“The effects of dumsor have been over flogged,” he stressed.

In his view, the current power crisis is better than what the country went through in 1983 and that instead of lamenting on the non-existent impact of the dumsor, Ghanaians must be smart.

Ebenezer Teye Larbi said the dumsor crisis will ease in August because the Mahama-led administration is working assiduously to fix the problem.

With all due respect, i think this a very dubious statement which is very unfair to most Ghanaians who have suffered and are continuing to suffer as a result of  this persistent power crisis....Such a statement goes a long way to proof that concerns of worried Ghanaians are not being taken into consideration and am not surprised though that this statement  was made by an NDC MP....

Kind of wondering how the people in Lower Manya Krobo will feel upon hearing that their MP has made such a statement... Or maybe those in Lower Manya Krobo are so rich that they are not experiencing the effects of this devastating power crisis....

Well, i just hope he is in the shoes of those "poor people" he is referring to so that he feels the kind of heat and pressure those "poor people" are going through day in day out in order to survive... And yet again he is claiming the government is working around the clock to solve this menace by August.... Anyway, I don't think this is any new thing in relation to ending "Dumsor" as we've heard so many of such promises and witness its respective failures...

I think the only thing we can do now is to wait and see since we've been waiting for about 3 and half years yet still seen nothing happen.. So if he is claiming that this menace will end by August, August is just around the corner.... But responsible Ghanaians will continue to complain so long as this devastating power crisis, "Dumsor", continues to exist...
