Mahama commissions €38m fibre optic infrastructure in Ho

President John Mahama has commissioned the eastern corridor fibre optic backbone infrastructure, Monday.

The cable laid from Ho to Bawku in the Upper East Region covers 800 kilometers and will connect 120 communities to the internet.

The €38 million project is geared towards bridging the digital divide between the urban and rural communities in the country.

"This fibre optic is going to allow us to do a lot of things," the president said.

"It is going through 20 districts. Now in every district, every public facility is going to be connected to the fibre optic.

"And so for every district, schools hospitals, district assembly offices, police stations,...every public facility in the district is going to be connected to the fibre optic," he indicated.

The president said the project will also support the e-government project which will link all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to the seat of government - the Presidency.

All government Agencies will also be connected to the internet via the fibre optic broadband.

"This is one of the achievements of Ghana," the president touted.

This project will really help the beneficiaries, all because in this modern world, everything is about technology, It and so on.
So they getting access to the internet is really a good thing to be done but my question is, How Many People Can Maybe Afford To Use It? All because internet in Ghana is not that cheap. Lets hope the best

This project is very commendable. If €38m can do this much, your guess is as good as mine his much we can achieve if all the leaks are plugged. We could have so many other social interventions to help the Ghanaian live better.
